HTA student recipient of Senator’s Contribution Award

A Drayton Valley high school student has been named as a recipient of the coveted Senator’s Contribution Award. 

Holy Trinity Academy student Melisa Obeso was selected for the award along with 91 outstanding Alberta graduating students.

The award, created last year for Canada150, is given to a deserving high school graduating student nominated by their school.

Senator Doug Black said the award is a way to acknowledge youth’s hard work in the community.

“Canada is the best country in the world and that reputation starts from the ground up with the important but often quiet actions individuals take to improve life in their communities every single day,” said Black. “This actions deserve acknowledgment and I wanted to find a small way I could help advance their recognition.”
