RDC looking to welcome child advocacy centre, sports medicine clinic to campus

City council has given first reading to land use bylaw amendments to allow RDC to welcome two local partners to its grounds.

One of those partners is the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. A partnership agreement was announced in March to explore the possibility of building a permanent home for the centre on RDC property.

The second partner, Collegiate Sports Medicine, has plans to set up a location within the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

In order for either to happen, the City’s land use bylaw which currently designates RDC’s land as ‘Public Service’ must be amended to add ‘Health and Medical Service’ and ‘Commercial Service Facility’ as approved uses.
