Mounties investigating fatal pedestrian collision near Pine Lake

RCMP in Innisfail are looking for the vehicle and driver involved in a fatal pedestrian collision near Pine Lake early this morning.

Police says the crash happened at about 3:30 a.m. at Highway 42 and Range Road 251A.

Early investigation indicates that four people were travelling in a grey Dodge car that left the road and became stuck in the ditch. Mounties say one of the occupants attempted to flag down a passing motorist and was struck by that vehicle. The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An RCMP Collision reconstruction attended and and is investigating. The scene of the crash has since been cleared. 

The identity of the victim will not be released at this time.
