New detours next week for QE II/Gaetz Ave. Interchange construction

More detours and road closures are coming next week as work continues on the QE II/Gaetz. Avenue Interchange.

On June 11, the north end of Gasoline Alley East (north of Poplar Street) and the western-most portion of Spruce Street will be closed for 30 days, weather dependent.

Traffic heading north on Gasoline Alley East will be detoured east on Poplar Street, north on Petrolia Drive, then briefly west on Spruce Street to 49 Avenue. Those wishing to access northbound Highway 2 can then do so from 19 Street.

The westbound access from Spruce Street onto Gasoline Alley East will be closed as part of this closure and will remain permanently closed. Eastbound access to Spruce Street from Gasoline Alley East will re-open after this 30-day closure and will be intermittently closed throughout construction. Once construction is complete, eastbound access to Spruce Street from Gasoline Alley East will remain permanently open.

Officials say access to all businesses along Gasoline Alley East will be maintained throughout the closure.
