Town Spring Clean Up nets nearly 70 tonnes of garbage

Jun 4, 2018 | 11:47 AM

The Spring Clean Up program wrapped up last week, with nearly 70 tonnes of waste being collected.

From May 28 to June 1 town public works crews were out collecting household items that couldn’t be placed in blue bags for recycling or included in waste totes for regular curbside collection.

Nearly 140,000 pounds of waste was collected from Drayton Valley residents and taken to the Aspen Waste Management Facility.

The amount collected weighs in at more than 10 African elephants, or over 4,000 Stanley Cups.
