Drayton Valley RCMP weekly brief May 24-31

THEFT FROM VEHICLES, ASSAULT 

Drayton Valley RCMP say on May 24 just before 8:30 a.m. on Mackenzie Avenue a complainant reported that someone entered their unlocked 2015 Dodge Ram and stole a cell phone and a vape.  

At 1:12 p.m. on MacKenzie Avenue a complainant reported that they parked their vehicle the previous night and noted that the vehicle had been rummaged through this morning.  2 sanders stolen, one Makita and 1 Dewalt circular sanders taken. 

At 1:37 p.m. in Brazeau County on Highway 22 a report of an assault received.  An argument escalated into physical violence.  Members attended and arrested 40 year old Angela Ovelson for assault.  Ovelson was held for a Bail hearing and released. 

At 3:55 p.m. in Northview Crescent a complainant reported that someone entered their locked 2008 Chevrolet Impala sometime over night.  No damage to vehicle.  Cigarettes and changed stolen. 

SHOPLIFTING, STOLEN MOTORCYCLE

On May 25 just before 6 p.m. a report came in from the Drayton Valley WalMart of approximately $3000 to $5000 worth of video games being stolen.  Video Surveillance on site.  

At 7:42 p.m. on MacKenzie Avenue a report came in of a 2008 red, black and silver Kawasaki 650 stolen sometime during the day.  

HOUSE FIRE, BREAK AND ENTER, THEFT TO SCHOOL 

On May 26 just before 5 p.m. in Brazeau County on Range Road 73 a request came in to assist Fire department with a structure fire. Explosion inside garage, fire spreading to house.  Members and fired department attended, minor fire in the garage, owner was able to contain same. 

 At 11:13 p.m. at the Tomahawk School a report came in of the school being broken into, likely around 4 pm today as alarm had gone off then.  Offices gone through and approximately 10 Chromebooks stolen.  Members attended and cleared the school.  Door was propped open with a rock.  

THEFT OF QUAD, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

At 3:41 a.m. on 49 Street a report was received from EMS of a male who has been stabbed in the arm. Members attended, all parties were evasive and refused to provide any information.  Male was treated and released.  Knife seized.  Matter is still under investigation. 

At 8:22 a.m. at the Omniplex a member on patrol observed a silver 1993 Lincoln Town Car with two male occupants.  Members attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however vehicle fled from police.  Vehicle was later discovered abandoned.  Vehicle towed. 

At 5:50 p.m. on 50 Avenue a report of a break and enter to Suzuki Dealership.  Unknown what taken.  Surveillance on site. 

At 6:58 p.m. at Drayton Valley Storage, report came in of entry made by cutting the fence to the compound.  Once inside suspect stole a red 2012 Polaris Razor Quad was stolen. 

THEFT FROM VEHICLE, BURNT VEHICLE, ABANDONED VEHICLE 

On May 28 at 6:12 a.m. on 50 Avenue a report came in that the passenger window of their Black 2013 Chevrolet 1 tonne was broken sometime over night. 

Just before 12:30 p.m. on 51 Avenue a report a the back window of their 2001 blue Chrysler Sebring was broken and a gym bag containing clothing, headphones was stolen along with a high visibility vest and safety glasses. 

At 2:21 p.m. in Tomahawk on 50 Street a report that someone entered their yard sometime overnight and stole gas from their parked vehicles.  Video surveillance shows 3 males entering the yard. 

At 7:38 p.m. in Brazeau County on Range Road 71 a member attended to gravel pit where a burnt out 2001 Crown Victoria was located.  Registered owner contacted.  Matter is still under investigation. 

At 8:22 p.m. in Brazeau County on Highway 620 and Range Road 94 a report came in of a 1999 White Pontiac Sunfire abandoned on the side of the road.  Front window is caved in and no back window.  Queries show vehicle stolen out of Edmonton.

THEFT OF VEHICLES, LEASE SITE THEFTS

On May 29 at 7:09 a.m. in Brazeau County on Range Road 73 and Highway 22 a report came in of theft of a 2008 dark green Toyota Secoya stolen from driveway sometime between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.  

At 9:30 a.m. in Brazeau County Sinopec reported theft and vandalism to lease site.  Power cables from the generator to the transformer and from transformer to sub drive were cut and removed.  Damage approximately $5000

At 11:04 a.m. at the Ford Dealership a complainant reported that the passenger side rear window on their truck was broken and the vehicle gone through sometime over night.  Several items stolen, including 2 jackknives, pliers, ring of keys and cheque book.

  At 11:07 a.m. in Brazeau County Sinopec reporting theft and vandalism to lease sites.  Power cables cut and removed. Approximate damage is $5000

At 2:51 p.m. in Brazeau County on Highway 753 a report of Theft of Black 2008 Chevrolet Equinox stolen overnight.  

At 9:37 p.m. at Petro Can a report was received of theft of a rental truck which had been left parked at the Petro Can.  Complainant advised that they were out of town working and had received a call from Enterprise advising that the vehicle had been involved in an accident in Leduc.  Vehicle is a White Dodge 1500. 

THEFT FROM VEHICLE, FRAUD, THEFT OF FUEL

On May 30 at 8:52 a.m. in Brazeau County on Range Road 82 a report was received of a burnt out Crown Victoria being towed to DV recycling.  Related to Vehicle fire at Wiley West Campground on May 28. 

At 9:43 a.m. on 38 Avenue a report of a vehicle being gone through some time over night. Red F150 had been rummaged through. 

Just before 1 p.m. a complainant reported being contacted by Better Loans Mutual through email.  They had advised her that she had been approved for a loan, however she was required to purchase $2900 worth of I Tunes cards before they would receive the money.  Complainant did as requested, however did not receive the money.

At 2:34 p.m. at the Rivers condominiums a complainant advised that their 2016 Ford F 150 was damaged sometime overnight.  Passenger front window is cracked. 

Just after 3 p.m. in Brazeau County at Precision Drilling a report of damage to the doors of a drilling rig.  They had been pried open.  Unknown what taken.

At 9:19 p.m. Fas Gas a report came in of a beige van filled up with $73.70 in fuel then drove off.  Female driver.  

TWO ARRESTED IN POSSESSION OF BREAK IN TOOLS

On May 31 just after 2:30 a.m. on 39 Street a report was received of someone going through neighbours vehicle.  Members attended location and located a female youth who was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of break in tools.  Further discussion with female led to the arrest of a male youth, who was found nearby, charged with possession of stolen property and break in tools.  Both held for Hearings.
