A kindergarten to grade nine school in a rural Alberta community is without nearly a dozen laptops after a break and enter to the building over the weekend.

Drayton Valley RCMP were called to the Tomahawk School in Parkland County on Saturday night, where Mounties said offices had been riffled through and approximately 10 Chromebook laptops were stolen.

Police cleared the building, and discovered that a door to the school had been propped open with a rock. It’s believed that the school had been broken into around 4 p.m. earlier in the day, and no significant damage was sustained to the building.

Jordi Weidman, Director, Strategic Planning & Communications for Parkland School Division said “It’s unfortunate that the school has to deal with this,” adding that “The principal and teachers will review the school divisions code of conduct.”
