ENDED: Heat warning issued for Drayton Valley area

UPDATE: Environment Canada has cancelled the heat warning for Drayton Valley.

A heat warning has been issued for Drayton Valley and the surrounding area. 

Environment Canada is forecasting a period with maximum daily temperatures reaching near 29C or above and minimum overnight temperatures near 14C or above is expected tomorrow into Thursday night. Slightly cooler temperatures are expected for Friday.

The heat warning is in effect for the following areas:

•    Brazeau Co. near Drayton Valley and Breton

    •    Co. of Wetaskiwin near Alder Flats and Winfield

    •    Co. of Wetaskiwin near Pigeon Lake

    •    Leduc Co. near Calmar and Devon

    •    Leduc Co. near Warburg Thorsby and Pigeon Lake

    •    Ponoka Co. near Crestomere

    •    Ponoka Co. near Rimbey Bluffton and Hoadley

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
