Rocky RCMP Weekly Report: May 10 – 16

On May 10th at 1:09 p.m. RCMP stopped a Mercedes in Rocky Mountain House for having a stolen licence plate. The driver was arrested for possession of stolen property and for having outstanding warrants from Calgary. The vehicle was also seized for 30 days as he was a suspended driver.

On May 10th at 8:51 p.m. RCMP responded to a report of a male running around with a long sword or machete in Rocky Mountain House. Extensive patrols made for the unknown individual but he wasn’t located.

On May 11th at 11:31 a.m. RCMP members conducted a traffic stop near Rocky Mountain House on two parked vehicles, one of which had tinted windows and light covers. The male and female adult drivers were on conditions not to have contact with each other while male also had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Cocaine was found in the male’s vehicle and on his person. Both were vehicles towed, and charges are pending.

On May 12th at 12:31 p.m. RCMP received a call of a suspicious person in a vehicle at a residence on Range Road 6-0 and Township 41-5 in Clearwater County. When approached by the home owner, he said he was looking for someone and was going to plant trees in the area for a company. The specific company, when contacted, advised they had no such plans.

On May 13th at 4:31 p.m. RCMP received a complaint from an oil lease operator of a pickup truck abandoned for a week on their site. The driver had said that he was going to come back for it but now the truck had been stripped. Police attended and discovered that the truck had been reported stolen from Innisfail at the end of April. Police are investigating to attempt to identify the suspicious driver and possible truck thief.

On May 14th at 6:56 a.m. RCMP received a call of a road hazard on Range Road 4-2 Clearwater County. Somebody had started a backhoe left by construction workers and proceeded to dig a trench across the road and damage an oilfield lease site gate.

On May 14th at 9:36 p.m. RCMP received a report of a male a with a machete attending a residence on Sunchild First Nation and threatening the home owner. The suspect was located, arrested, and charged. 

On May 15th at 9:06 p.m. RCMP received a call of an intoxicated adult female causing problems at a residence on Sunchild First Nation. Police attended and arrested the subject for mischief and causing a disturbance. She was also charged with assaulting a police officer.

On May 15th at 12:43 a.m. an RCMP officer observed a male at the O’Chiese First Nation running in the middle of the road almost get hit by a vehicle. Police identified the very intoxicated individual who was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and held in custody until sober.

On May 15th at 10:55 p.m. police observed a male on a bike without a headlight in Rocky Mountain House. The male was identified and found out to have outstanding warrants for his arrest. A search of his backpack revealed a machete, knives, meth pipes, and a package of needles loaded with a clear substance believed to be meth. He was arrested and charges are pending.

On May 16th at 12:00 a.m. police stopped a vehicle in Rocky Mountain House. The BC driver had no drivers license, vehicle insurance or vehicle registration, and outstanding warrants. Marijuana and cocaine were located in the vehicle. Multiple charges were laid.
