EDMONTON- Alberta Health Services has issued a public alert after someone in Edmonton tested positive for measles.

The warning is specific to certain times, locations and dates when others may have been exposed to the infected person.

It says people at risk include anyone who was at Northgate Mall on May 8 or 9, the Real Canadian Superstore (17303 Stony Plain Rd.) on May 11 or the Misericordia Community Hospital's emergency, diagnostic imaging and day surgery departments between May 9 and May 12.

Officials say only people who were at those locations at certain times could be at risk for developing measles.

They would also have to be born after 1970 and not already had measles or received a measles vaccine.

Officials say measles is extremely contagious and can easily be spread through the air.
