May 12, 2018 | 6:15 PM

Two people were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries after a two vehicle crash on Highway 11 west of Red Deer Saturday morning.

It happened around 11:45 a.m. when Mounties say an eastbound van was struck by an eastbound truck as the vehicles approached the intersection at Burnt Lake Trail.

Police say the impact of the collision forced the van into the south side ditch with both occupants needing to be extracted from the vehicle by emergency services.

Blackfalds RCMP say the driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious lower body injuries, while the passenger in the van was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
