Trial gets underway this week for a Lacombe man accused in a 2006 murder near Eckville.

Shayne Earl Gulka, who is 46, was charged in March 2016 with First Degree Murder and kidnapping.

Bradley Webber was killed in his fifth wheel trailer near Eckville on October 24, 2006. The kidnapping charge relates to another individual.

Gulka was ordered to stand trial following a preliminary hearing in November 2016.

Jury selection is slated for Monday. Three weeks (May 8 – 25) has been set aside for trial in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench.

Meantime, a second man charged in relation to Webber’s murder remains at large.

Kevin Edward Brown, 35, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first degree murder and kidnapping. Police issued a renewed call for information regarding his whereabouts in February.
