Red Deer man gets five years for fentanyl trafficking

May 4, 2018 | 9:14 AM

A local man charged with trafficking fentanyl in Red Deer will spend the next few years behind bars.

Derrick Fitzgerald Savard, 33, and Jennifer Amanda Lindsay, 32, were arrested in late September after Priority Crimes Task Force members seized fentanyl and cocaine during a highway traffic stop.

Police said the arrests were the result of a targeted drug trafficking investigation by Red Deer and Innisfail RCMP and the Calgary Police Service that spanned several days.

After obtaining a search warrant for a safe found inside the vehicle, police turned up 157 fentanyl tablets, half an ounce of cocaine, a quarter ounce of an unknown drug, and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
