The 13th annual community safety day receives impressive turnout

May 3, 2018 | 8:06 PM

The Christenson Sports and Wellness Centre hosted safety-themed booths ranging from cougar awareness to hand washing on Wednesday.

Over 1500 elementary, middle school and high school students attended, engaging in interactive activities.

Local employers put on presentations for the older students, giving them a heads up on safety procedures on the job.

“They’re talking to kids about hazard awareness and safety on the job,” says Brenda Cooke, Organizer of the event. “When they go out to their first jobs they’ll have some education awareness of what to look for.”

A few new booths made their debut this year, including the Rocky Ag Society who put on farm safety demonstrations.

When students return to their classrooms, they put on presentations to share what information they’ve learned.
