May 2, 2018 | 3:52 PM

He missed half the season due to a case of mono and a trip to the World Juniors, but that didn’t stop Connor Hart from being named WHL Player of the Year.

The superstar goaltender for the Everett Silvertips claimed the league’s top player honour Wednesday at the WHL Awards luncheon at the Sheraton hotel in Red Deer.

The Sherwood Park native appeared in only 41 regular season games. But in those games he posted a superlative 36-6-1-3 record, 1.60 goals against average, .947 save percentage and seven shutouts.

Hart beat out Jayden Halbegwachs of the Moose Jaw Warriors to win the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy. He also won the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy as the WHL Goaltender of the Year for the third straight year.

Halbegwachs, who became the first WHL player since 1999 to reach the 70 goal plateau, took home the Bob Clarke Trophy as the league’s top scorer.

Kale Clague, who was traded from Brandon to Moose Jaw at this season’s trade deadline, won the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy as WHL Defenceman of the Year.

The winner of the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the WHL Rookie of the Year was Dylan Cozens of the Lethbridge Hurricanes after collecting 53 points in 57 regular season games.

Silvertips GM Garry Davidson won the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Trophy as the WHL Executive of the Year.

Manny Viveros of the Swift Current Broncos took home the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy as the WHL Coach of the Year.

The Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy as the WHL Humanitarian of the Year was awarded to Vancouver Giants forward Ty Ronning.

The Edmonton Oil Kings earned the WHL Business Award for the 2017-18 season.

Ty Smith of the Spokane Chiefs won the Daryl (Doc) K. Seaman Memorial Trophy as the WHL Scholastic Player of the Year. The Saskatoon Blades were honoured as the Scholastic Team of the Year.

For the second straight season, Brett Iverson won the Allen Paradice Memorial Trophy as the WHL Top Official. Paradice worked at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea and is set to also call games at the IIHF World Championship.

WHL activities in Red Deer continue on Thursday with the WHL Bantam Draft.
