The Red Deer Rampage junior lacrosse team held an emotional cermony Sunday night prior to their home opener at the Kinex Arena.

In addition to celebrating their silver medal win at last year’s national championship, the Rampage honoured a valued member of the local sports community.

Kevin Zarubiak, a dedicated lacrosse and hockey parent who has supported each of his kids teams religously, was recognized in front of packed crowd filled with lacrosse and hockey families.

Zarubiak continues his battle with a terminal illness, but that didn’t stop him from attending. With his family at his side, including his son who plays with the Rampage, Kevin came on the floor to recieve a well deserved ovation.
