QE2 / Gaetz Avenue Interchange update

Apr 26, 2018 | 6:41 AM

RED DEER- Starting the evening of April 26, a temporary traffic pattern change will be in effect along the QE2, between Taylor Drive and south of Gaetz Avenue.

Southbound QE2 traffic will be detoured onto the northbound lanes where both northbound and southbound traffic will operate.

Two lanes will be accommodated in each direction and traffic will be separated by barriers.

It is anticipated this traffic pattern change will be in effect until early May, weather permitting.

A detour plan is available on hwy2gaetz.com

The temporary traffic pattern change is required to complete the erection of girders for the Gaetz Avenue bridge.

Reduced speed limits will remain in effect throughout the construction zone.

QE2 has been reduced to 80 km/hr as work is ongoing through the day and night.

Road users are asked to drive safely and obey the speed limits through the construction zone.

The QE2 / Gaetz Avenue Interchange is scheduled to be complete in fall 2018.
