Property crime in Drayton Valley area still high, new RCMP statistics show

Property crime is continuing to rise in the Drayton Valley area as 2018 progresses, according to newly released statistics from Drayton Valley RCMP.

The stats from March show there were 16 theft under $5,000 cases that month and in total from January to March there have been 65 reports of theft under $5,000. That’s the highest total in the past five years. 

Break and enters were down compared to March of 2017, however year to date there has been a huge spike compared to the last five years with 53 in total.

Theft of motor vehicles sat at 8 last month, and 25 for the first three months of the year. That number easily eclipses the old high of 14 back in 2014.
