Central Alberta Sting U16 AA ringette team back from nationals

A local ringette team is back from competing at the Canadian Ringette Championships in Winnipeg last week.

The U16 AA Central Alberta Sting finished with a 4-4 record and lost 5-3 in the Consolation final to Mississauga after an 0-3 start to the tournament and some tough battles with the other top teams in the country.

The Sting’s opening game was an 8-1 loss to Team New Brunswick, the defending national champions heading into the tournament.

Next up was a 7-4 defeat to the Manitoba 2 Magic and 7-0 loss to the Regina Stingers.

Following that, the Sting beat the Mississauga Mustangs 5-3, doubled Quebec 2 BLL 4-2, then lost 8-2 to Team Alberta.

Elsewhere, Edmonton Wham earned a Silver Medal at the National Ringette League championship also taking place in Winnipeg at the same time. The team is made up of several girls from central Alberta and the Red Deer area.
