Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Team makes several arrests in Olds area

Mar 20, 2018 | 3:12 PM

RCMP are encouraging the public to continue calling in tips of suspicious vehicles and activities in their community.

This after the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Team (SACRT) used public tips and analysis of crime data and calls for service to target an identified ‘crime hot spot’ in the Olds, Sundre and Didsbury areas over the past month to make several arrests.

Mounties say several thefts and property offences in the rural area identified a trend which SACRT set out to change, with known offenders also identified for enforcement action.

On February 27, police say evidence was gathered indicating a woman was in possession of a vehicle stolen from a farm near Didsbury. It was determined the suspect and the stolen vehicle were in Calgary, so Calgary Police were notified and the suspect arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Charged is Amber Rose Johnson, 23, of Sundre.

On March 13, SACRT arrested and charged a woman accused of failing to comply with a recognizance. Shaylene Kendra McCauley, 19, is scheduled for trial in Didsbury Court July 12.

Also on March 13, SACRT arrested two suspects accused of driving a vehicle stolen from a rural property. The pair were arrested when they stopped for gas in Bowden. Charged are Austin Cody Jay Graham, 22, and Desire Jade Fahlman, 23. Fahlman is due in Didsbury Court March 26, while Graham remains in custody for Didsbury Court appearance March 26 as well.

On March 15, SACRT located a man accused of failing to comply with his probation. He was arrested while attempting to flee out the back door of his residence. Ron Hanlon, 43, of Olds faces four counts of fail to comply with probation.

Finally, SACRT is also asking for the public’s help in locating Lee Edward Clouthier, 34, of no fixed address. Clouthier is wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for charges of possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with probation. He is known to frequent Sundre, Olds, Didsbury and Rocky Mountain House.

Clouthier is described as white, 5’9″ and 185 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.

If you know of his whereabouts, contact Rocky Mountain House RCMP at 403-845-2881 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
