Pembina Nordic Ski Club officially launches outdoor education centre project

Mar 20, 2018 | 7:33 AM

The Pembina Nordic Ski Club have moved closer to making a major project a reality, officially launching an outdoor education and events centre over the weekend.

With over 80% of the funds needed to get the Pembina Nordic Outdoor Education Centre built, the president of the club says a May construction date has been pegged. The project has had the support of multiple sponsors, including Alberta Parks, Brazeau County and the town of Drayton Valley.

The two story facility will play host to school and community outdoor and environmental education programs offered by the Eagle Point Blue Rapids Parks Council, the Nordic Clubs own programs, and a wide variety of other recreational and outdoor options.

The new space will also be able to support regional and provincial level sporting events using the trail systems for cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking, running and snowshoeing.
