Women of Excellence Award nominees announced

A record-breaking 51 outstanding women from across central Alberta have been nominated for the 2018 Women of Excellence Awards.

That according to the Red Deer and District Community Foundation which points out the event is a celebration of innovation, leadership, achievement and the talent demonstrated by the nominees.

Officials say the nominees serve as role models for all women and girls and come from diverse backgrounds, sectors and age groups. However, they are all similar in their exceptional contributions that have helped to make central Alberta a better place to live, work and play.

Nominees are being recognized in 11 different categories this year. Here are the award nominees, their category and category sponsors:

Agriculture: Scotia Bank – Leona Staples

A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented to an exemplary woman who for many years of her life has been a role model for the community. The award is sponsored by Royal Bank of Canada.

The 11th Annual Women of Excellence Awards Gala will be held Wednesday, June 6 at the Sheraton Hotel in Red Deer. Award recipients will be announced that evening, with tickets now available at www.ticketsalberta.com.
