Blindman Industrial Park fire deemed accidental

A fire that gutted a business in the Blindman Industrial Park north of Red Deer March 2 has been deemed accidental.

Dave Brand, Deputy Director of Emergency Management at Red Deer County says the fire at CEDA Resources started in a wash bay at the west-end of the building that morning.

Although it’s not clear yet what the damage estimate is, Brand says some of the building’s contents and property were saved due to the efforts of firefighters.

The blaze was tended to by crews from Red Deer County, the City of Red Deer and Town of Blackfalds.

No one was injured in the fire but Brand notes two firefighters were assessed on scene, treated and released.

CEDA Resources is an industrial services provider located on Henry Street in the Blindman Industrial Park.

Company officials have since been making arrangements for their employees who work out of the building to return to work by utilizing CEDA’s other regional office within Red Deer.

No significant disruptions to the company’s services was anticipated.
