Adèle Poratto has announced she will be running for the United Conservative Party nomination for the constituency of Red Deer – South.

The next provincial election is slated to take place in May 2019.

“I am running to bring the voice of the people in my riding to the provincial legislature,” Poratto, a local businesswomen and French educator, says in a release. “I am committed to helping Alberta reach its potential through transparent political leadership with a servant heart.”

Poratto’s history with provincial politics began when she worked for her father while he was president of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party. She has served on 27 boards in Red Deer and Central Alberta over the past 22 years, including local Rotary Clubs, the 2019 Canada Winter Games Bid Committee, Community Housing Advisory Board and the United Way.
