The Red Deer Vipers are off to the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s North Division Final after a 6-1 win over the Mountainview Colts in Didsbury Friday night.

The Vipers won the Best of Five series three games to one and now prepare to face the Airdrie Thunder who knocked-off the Blackfalds Wranglers three games to one as well.

On Friday, the Vipers opened the scoring at 2:35 of the first period when Lane Sim scored to make it 1-0 for the visitors in the game’s early going. Red Deer struck again when Logan Linnell picked up a power play goal at 18:19 to make it 2-0 Vipers after twenty minutes.

In the second, Red Deer would add to their lead when Logan Linnell struck again on the power play at the 7:00 mark for his second goal of the night to make it 3-0 Vipers. Mountainview eventually got on the board though when Josh Gette broke the goose egg for the Colts and scored on the power play at 16:29, cutting Red Deer’s lead to 3-1 after forty.
