Riley Lamb named WHL Goaltender of the Month

Mar 2, 2018 | 1:18 PM

Yet another WHL honour has been bestowed upon one of the Red Deer Rebels’ red-hot goaltenders.

Riley Lamb has been named WHL Goaltender of the Month for February.

Lamb went a stunning 8-0-0-0 last month with a 1.99 GAA and .937 SV%, with one shutout to boot.

The 19-year-old’s eight victories included a sweep of a four game road trip through the BC Division as the Rebels knocked off Kelowna, Victoria, Vancouver and Prince George.

Lamb was also featured twice in February as WHL Goaltender of the Week for the weeks ending Feb. 4 and Feb. 18. He was also named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the week.

The Rivers, Manitoba native now has a regular season record of 10-9-3-2 in 27 games with a 3.23 GAA and .903 SV%, with one shutout. Lamb’s play has been a major factor in the Rebels turnaround and vault into a playoff spot.

In January, fellow netminder Ethan Anders was named WHL Goaltender of the Week once, as well as WHL Rookie of the Month.

Lamb and the Rebels play next tonight at home to Kootenay. 106.7 The Drive will have the broadcast starting at 6:30, with a full game recap following the matchup here on rdnewsNOW.com.
