One of Canada’s best-known children’s entertainers is coming to Red Deer this fall.

Fred Penner will be performing a free concert at the Memorial Centre on Saturday, September 29 during Alberta Culture Days. A three-day province-wide festival from September 28-30 which celebrates the arts and culture in cities across Canada and includes free, family-friendly activities throughout the weekend.

During his career, Penner has produced 12 children’s albums, three of which received Juno awards for Children’s Album of the Year, in addition to ‘Fred Penner’s Place’ a children’s T.V. show which aired for 12 seasons on CBC.

In a release, Special Events Programmer Caryn Ouwehand says they’re excited for this rare opportunity to showcase such a talented performer in Red Deer, “Fred Penner can communicate with children and families in such a fun and meaningful way. He is an iconic example of Canadian culture and an ideal fit for Alberta Culture Days.”
