Upcoming March Events: RDC’s School of Creative Arts

Red Deer College invites central Albertans to join us as the School of Creative Arts brings creativity to life throughout an exciting season of diverse performances, concerts, screenings and exhibitions. RDC’s talented students, instructors, staff and special guests will present the following events throughout the month of March:

Thursday Live Concert
March 1 | 1:00 pm | Studio A, Arts Centre | $2
From classical to contemporary, these student performances are a great way to spend your lunch hour. All funds raised will go to different local charities throughout the year.

Symphonic Winds
March 4 | 2:00 pm | Mainstage, Arts Centre | $12 adults | $9 seniors | $5 children/students
A concert for the young and the young at heart, featuring RDC faculty Val Sherman and Joyce Howdle, performing Tarantelle, Op. 6 by Saint Saëns for flute and clarinet with Symphonic Winds.

Mostly Acoustic Recital
March 8 | 1:00 pm | Studio C, Arts Centre | Free admission
These free lunchtime concerts will showcase the talents of RDC’s Music students in an intimate setting.

Movies Worth Watching Series
Easter Parade (1948) 70th Anniversary Event
March 8 & 9 | Welikoklad Event Centre Cinema | 7:00 pm | $5 | G | 107 min
Movies Worth Watching showcases a variety of classic films that are best viewed on the BIG screen. Join us to see the best Hollywood has to offer. Every screening is preceded by an MPA student film that we know you will love.

Red Deer College Visual Art Alumni Exhibition
March 9 – April 27 | Welikoklad Event Centre Gallery
Many former students from the Visual Art Program have gone on to have notable careers as artists. This exhibition will focus on a few that have cultivated a practice in the central Alberta area.

Solo Flight – 2nd Year Theatre Performance and Creation students

That’s Entertainment

With classical, jazz, contemporary, solo, ensemble and everything in between, this showcase of the best student performances of the year has something for everyone.

School is in! Intent on instructing the perfect wife, wealthy suitors Sgaranlle and Arnolphe each approach the situation differently, but surprisingly with similar results. Controlling and short-sighted, each mature suitor is tricked by lessons in love that only youth can fully appreciate. Smile in mischievous delight as the beautiful young wards turn the tables on their unlucky mentors. No matter the intent, the girls get the highest grades in their pair of playful stories from France’s greatest humourist.
