Update: Didsbury RCMP say they’ve made the fifth and final arrest in connection to an alleged kidnapping which took place in January.

On February 12, Tanya Dawn Hoomana, 39, of Didsbury turned herself in. A bail hearing was held for Hoomana on charges of kidnapping with a firearm, extortion with a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime.

She has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear on March 5 in Didsbury Provincial Court.

“I want to thank the citizens of Didsbury and Olds for all the assistance we received through the course of this investigation,” says Staff Sergeant Chad Fournier, Didsbury RCMP Detachment Commander. “We are confident that all of the people involved in these allegations have been identified and are not seeking any additional suspects.”

Last week, RCMP announced they’d made an arrest of Mitch Engler, the fourth suspect sought in connection to this case. He was arrested by investigators from Didsbury and Olds RCMP early in the morning on February 8 in Olds.

Engler has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear on Feb. 12 in Didsbury Provincial Court.

A warrant was put out for Engler’s arrest on Jan. 29 after Mounties said they’d arrested three suspects on Jan. 23 during a search warrant on a travel trailer at a rural location west of Olds.

Police also located the male victim and say he’d been taken at gunpoint, then ordered to pay the captors money or he would face bodily harm.
