SCI Drayton Valley to receive major conservation award

Feb 7, 2018 | 5:16 AM

The Safari Club International Drayton Valley Chapter will be given a prestigious award at the 16th Annual Wise Awards & Banquet on Saturday for its hunter-conservation efforts.

The W.I.S.E. awards will be handed out in Calgary where Premier Rachel Notley or the Minister of Environment will dish the awards out.

“I think it’s pretty fantastic, we’ve got a lot of awards internationally from Safari Club International themselves, but we’ve never been recognized on a provincial level so it’s really fantastic to have that recognition provincially for what we’ve done,” said Drayton Valley chapter President Coby Mahan.

Mahan says over the past year the chapter has made contributions towards the conservation of wildlife projects in Alberta, had education programs for hunter training and made contributions to the National Archery in Schools program.
