Following a trifecta of outstanding performances, Red Deer Rebels goaltender Ethan Anders has been named WHL Goaltender of the Week.

In three starts, Anders recorded two wins and and overtime loss. In the process, he stopped 119 shots, had a 1.62 GAA and a .960SV%.

Anders's exemplary week began Wednesday when the Rebels knocked off the Central Division-leading Medicine Hat Tigers 4-1 on home ice.

The Regina, SK native then stood tall Saturday night in a hard-fought 3-2 OT win over the West-leading Kelowna Rockets.

Sunday, Anders backstopped Red Deer to a heartbreaking overtime defeat at the hands of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, stopping 40-plus shots for the second night in a row.

The Rebels are back in action Tuesday when they play the first game of a four-game road trip in Prince Albert (6 p.m. on 106.7 The Drive).
