EDMONTON- Mud and a large nearby propane tank posed hazards for Edmonton firefighters as they battled a blaze that destroyed two homes under construction.

Flames were shooting from both structures when crews arrived at the north-end site around 2:30 this morning.

Emergency officials say a constant stream of water was poured on the tank to keep it cool and prevent an explosion.

There were no injuries and no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
