Optimist Chiefs 2-0 at Macs Tournament in Calgary

The Red Deer Optimist Chiefs are 2-0 after doubling the Vancouver NW Giants 4-2 at the Macs Midget AAA World Invitational Hockey Tournament in Calgary on Thursday.

The Chiefs opened the tournament on Wednesday with a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames and now prepare to face the Belarus National U17’s on Friday at 8:00 p.m. – another team off to a 2-0 start.

The victories have the Chiefs tied with Belarus for first place in Pool 2, with each having 4 points so far.

There are five Pools with five teams each in the Male Division, while there are two Pools with four teams each in the Female Division.

The tournament runs from December 26 – January 1 and features 25 of the best Midget AAA male and eight of the best female Midget AAA hockey teams from across Canada, the United States and Europe.
