DEVON- An RCMP officer has been seriously injured in a crash near Devon.

The collision happened early Thursday morning when an officer tried to pull over a vehicle being driven erratically.

Police say the vehicle didn't stop and the officer didn't pursue it, but did alert another officer about the situation.

A short time later, the first officer came across a head-on crash between the suspect vehicle and an RCMP cruiser.

An officer was outside his vehicle and unconscious.

The arriving officer performed first-aid to his colleague, who was taken to an Edmonton hospital.

He is recovering from serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the other vehicle was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Fifty-three-year-old Brent Allen Tchir of Leduc County faces several charges, including impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
