Two Red Deer residents charged after stolen vehicle crash

LACOMBE- At approximately 12:30 a.m. on October 30, a Lacombe Police Service officer observed a Dodge Ram pickup and a Kia Soul travelling in the 4600 block of 58 Street in Lacombe.

The Kia did not have its headlights on and the officer activated the emergency equipment in the marked cruiser in an attempt to pull it over.

Both vehicles began to accelerate attempting to evade the police.

Shortly after, the Kia swerved in an attempt to pass the pickup and both vehicles collided.

The Kia struck a traffic sign rendering it inoperable and the woman driving it was arrested at the scene.

It had been reported stolen to the Innisfail RCMP on October 29.

The pickup was later found abandoned at the intersection of 45 Ave. and C&E Trail. 

Officers determined that the truck had just been stolen from a residence in Lacombe.

A track was conducted utilizing the assistance of a K-9 member from the Red Deer RCMP.

Along the route of the track, a backpack was located containing a sawed off shot gun.

As the track continued, police located and arrested a man hiding in a backyard shed of a home in the area.

Daniel Buehler, 21, of Red Deer has been charged with 11 offences which include, motor vehicle theft, possession of a prohibited weapon, flight from police and dangerous driving.

Buehler appears in Red Deer court on November 17.

Brianna Carroll, 22, of Red Deer faces four charges including dangerous driving, flight from police and possession of stolen property.

Carroll is scheduled to appear in Red Deer court on Friday.
