RED DEER- Building permit values in October surpassed values for the same month last year, with commercial permits leading the way.
Commercial permits in October, valued at $10.2 million, nearly tripled the value of commercial permits for October 2016.
For total permits in all sectors, 93 permits were issued last month for a value of $15.7 million, compared to 80 permits issued in October 2016 for a value of $13 million.
Although all sectors have had a strong showing in the last several months, overall permit values for the year to date still lag behind 2016 totals.
Notable projects last month include permits for a new interior corridor and roof replacement at Parkland Mall, valued at $5 million; and a new building at 7767 Edgar Industrial Way, valued at $2.4 million.
