RCMP seize firearms and arrest five during stolen vehicle investigation

Five Red Deer men face charges after RCMP located a stolen vehicle and four firearms during a series of linked investigations in Riverside Meadows on October 25.

Mounties were patrolling in the neighbourhood when they located a stolen car parked at a residence and observed a suspect who was known to be wanted on warrants in the garage at the home.

Officers seized two long guns and ammunition.

RCMP returned to the area shortly after 11 p.m. that same night after receiving a complaint of suspicious activity.

Some men were searching in bushes and dumpsters with flashlights.

The area was contained and one suspect was arrested after officers found two firearms in a bag under a nearby vehicle.

Jeremy Daniel Hiebert, 37, faces careless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of stolen property charges.

Hiebert is scheduled to appear in Red Deer court on November 10

Quentin Strawberry, 36, is also facing firearms and stolen property charges.

Strawberry is scheduled to appear in court on November 9.

Isaiah Sean Nobel, 18, faces pointing a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, and a number of other charges.

Nobel is scheduled to appear in court on November 14.

Robert Theus Handy, 27, faces charges including careless use of a firearm,  possession of a prohibited firearm and  possession of stolen property.

Handy is scheduled to appear in court on November 8.

Curtis Ryan Lewis, 31, faces charges of resisting arrest and failing to comply with conditions.

Lewis is scheduled to appear in court on November 8.

The Honda Civic had been reported stolen out of Red Deer on October 24 when it was left unattended, unlocked and running.
