The City of Lacombe’s annual kick-off to the holiday season has received a financial boost from Stantec.

The consulting and engineering services company has renewed its title sponsorship of the Light Up the Night Festival for another three years, to the tune of $18,000. An increase of 20 per cent or $1,000 per- year for the term of the agreement.

In a release, Lacombe Mayor Grant Creasey says he is pleased to have Stantec back on board as the festival’s presenting sponsor. “This partnership has proven to be a recipe for success and on behalf of Council, I thank Stantec for its continued commitment to our community and for helping to kick-off the holiday season in style”.

“We’re excited to be part of Lacombe Light Up the Night for another three years,” said Todd Simenson, Stantec Vice President, Regional Leader for Alberta North and Territories. “Kicking-off the holiday season with this feel good, fun event and bringing families together is heartwarming. This partnership with the City of Lacombe allows us to give back to the community in which our staff live and work.”

“We have a vision for this festival and having a title sponsor like Stantec makes our plans that much more achievable,” said Community Economic Development Manager Guy Lapointe. “We are excited to offer another great slate of events this year and invite everyone out to the annual Santa Claus Parade to officially kick-off the holiday festivities.”

Lacombe’s seventh annual Light Up the Night Festival runs from November 22-26 and will feature the Tim Horton’s Santa Claus Parade, a Tree Lighting ceremony and Moonlight Madness. In addition, a radio play version of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ will also be added to the festival this year, along with roving carolers.
