Red Deer man to be sentenced for giving cocaine to Airdrie youths

A Red Deer man charged with providing cocaine to youths in Airdrie will be sentenced early next year.

It was on March 19 of this year that Airdrie RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a possible youth having overdosed on drugs.

The youth was located and transported to hospital for further medical assessment where a full recovery was made.

Airdrie RCMP investigation revealed that an adult male had given alcohol and cocaine to two youths inside a home. They say the male also tried to conceal the criminal act by extorting another person involved.

Shawn Milton Payne, 48, of Red Deer is charged with two counts of trafficking of a scheduled substance, extortion, and obstruction of justice.

He entered guilty pleas this week will be sentenced in Calgary Provincial Court on Feb. 7, 2018.
