A local man charged in a Christmas Day 2015 stabbing death in Red Deer has pleaded guilty.

Chad Alexander Kulba, 34, pleaded guilty in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench Wednesday morning to a count of manslaughter.

He was originally charged with second degree murder and indignity to a human body and was scheduled for trial starting Nov. 27 of this year prior to entering his guilty plea.

Kulba will now be in Red Deer court on Nov. 27 for sentencing.

The body of Thomas Braconnier, 46, was found in the doorway at the Buffalo Hotel in downtown Red Deer early on Dec. 25, 2015. He had been stabbed multiple times.

Police say the victim and the accused were known to each other.
