The Red Deer Rebels have improved their pre-season record to 3-0 after a hard fought 3-2 victory in Kennewick, Washington Friday night.

The physical contest featured numerous penalties including 11 game misconducts, five for the Rebels. Nonetheless, the host Tri-City Americans got on the board first with a goal from Connor Bouchard at the 5:01 mark of the opening period. However, the Rebels Jacob Herauf tied it up ten minutes later to draw the teams even heading into the first intermission.

In the second, Tri-City pulled ahead 2-1 after a goal from Kaden Kohle at the 7:56 mark, but Red Deer tied it again just under two minutes later when Austin Pratt scored on the power play.

The game winner came 4:25 into the third period when Austin Schellenberg put one behind Americans netminder Patrick Dea who stopped 25 of 28 on the night. The Rebels’ Riley Lamb stopped 22 of 24.
