The Red Deer Rebels have improved their pre-season record to 3-0 after a hard fought 3-2 victory in Kennewick, Washington Friday night.

The physical contest featured numerous penalties including 11 game misconducts, five for the Rebels. Nonetheless, the host Tri-City Americans got on the board first with a goal from Connor Bouchard at the 5:01 mark of the opening period. However, the Rebels Jacob Herauf tied it up ten minutes later to draw the teams even heading into the first intermission.

In the second, Tri-City pulled ahead 2-1 after a goal from Kaden Kohle at the 7:56 mark, but Red Deer tied it again just under two minutes later when Austin Pratt scored on the power play.

The game winner came 4:25 into the third period when Austin Schellenberg put one behind Americans netminder Patrick Dea who stopped 25 of 28 on the night. The Rebels' Riley Lamb stopped 22 of 24.

The Rebels' next action is Saturday (September 9) when they host the Portland Winterhawks in Kennewick. It’s a 4 p.m. MT faceoff.
