Two men injured installing platform at QEII/Gaetz Ave. Interchange

Two men were taken to hospital following a workplace accident at the QEII/Gaetz Avenue Interchange.

Occupational Health and Safety continues to investigate the incident that happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Alberta Labour spokesperson Cassie Kiel says the two men were installing a platform under a bridge when the decking platform collapsed, sending them several metres to the ground.

The men, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s, suffered serious injuries. Kiel was unable to comment any further on the extent of their injuries.

A stop work order has been issued for the platform and decking from which the men fell. Work on the rest of the QEII/Gaetz Ave. Interchange is unaffected.
