Rebels acquire Dmytriw from Victoria for Freadrich

The Red Deer Rebels had depth at defence, the Victoria Royals had depth up front.

So the two teams decided “Let’s make a deal.”

The Rebels sent 19-year-old defenceman Jared Freadrich to the Royals on Wednesday in exchange for 19-year-old forward Jared Dmytriw.

Dmytriw is entering his fourth year in the WHL, he has played 179 WHL regular season games, scoring 29 goals and 21 assists for 50 career points. He has also played in 26 WHL playoff games, scoring 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points. 

Dmytriw was a fourth round selection of the Royals in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. The Craven, Saskatchewan native stands 5’11” and weighs 192 lbs.

Freadrich joined the Rebels last October from the Regina Pats in exchange for a fourth round selection in the 2017 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

In 64 regular season games with the Rebels he collected 6 goals and 30 points along with 54 penalty minutes. He added five points and two penalty minutes in seven playoff games.
