Rams maul Cougars in high school football opener

The Lacombe Rams opened the 2017 high school football season by making a statement Thursday night.

The Rams posted 39 second half points in a 42-17 win over the defending league champion Notre Dame Cougars in the first game of the year at MEGlobal Athletic Park.

Both teams started slow before the Rams cracked things open with 20 points in the third quarter.

Richard Jans and Simon Gray each caught touchdown passes from Lacombe quarterback Johnny Ericson. Logan Ellis added a pair of late rushing majors.

Josh Burke and Isaal Colosimo score touchdowns for Notre Dame.


On Friday, Hunting Hills beat up on Lindsay Thurber 51-20.

Lightning quarterback Brandon Rees finished with four touchdown passes and ran one in himself.

Nathan Lavigne and Jordan Lenius caught two touchdown passes for Hunting Hills.
