Hikers have an emergency beacon to thank for the help they received after a man was hit in the head with a rock while scaling the side of a mountain.
On August 5 just after 8 p.m., RCMP responded to an distress signal sent from Sentinel Mountain west of Nordegg.
According to RCMP, hikers were on a steep slope exploring future rock climbing areas when a rock knocked one of the hikers in the head.
A helicopter was dispatched and the hiker was transported by EMS to hospital to be treated for minor head injuries.
The male suffered non-life threatening injuries.
