The Sylvan Lake sniper is ready to take his show on the road to the desert.

Tyler Steenbergen was selected on Saturday in the 4th round of the NHL Draft in Chicago, 128th overall.

The former Red Deer Optimist Chief had a marvelous season with the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL, leading the team in scoring with 90 points, including 51 goals and 39 assists in 72 games.

For his efforts, Steenbergen was rewarded at season’s end by being named to the Eastern Conference Second All-Star Team. He was also given the nod as the conference’s Most Sportsmanlike Player and was later named the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player.
