Red Deer County finalizes tax freeze for 2017

May 10, 2017 | 9:48 AM

RED DEER- Red Deer County Council has approved the 2017 municipal tax rate bylaw.

In recognition of the continued economic challenges, Council has approved a zero percent increase in tax rates.

Major projects this year in the $74 million budget include Gasoline Alley road construction, bridge repairs, and contributions to the Delburne Agriplex.

Property owners can anticipate being in line with the scenarios below:

*Residential Municipal taxes: 2017 taxes – $374.06 per $100,000 in assessed value.

A residential property assessed at $500,000 would pay the same amount in municipal taxes for 2017 (if no change in assessed value occurred).

*Non-Residential Municipal taxes:2017 taxes – $1,100.55 per $100,000 in assessed value.

A non-residential property assessed at $500,000 would pay the same amount in municipal taxes for 2017 (if no change in assessed value occurred).

Community, Environmental, and Protective Services levies will remain unchanged from last year.

Taxes are due on June 30.
