RED DEER- Stats Canada is out with unemployment numbers for April.
The rate for the Red Deer area was 9.7%, that is up from 9.5% in March.
The Alberta rate dropped from 8.4% to 7.9% in April.
The national unemployment rate fell by point-two percentage points from March to 6.5 last month as fewer young people looked for a job.
That’s the lowest level since the country was in the grips of the global financial crisis in 2008.
