Local Real Estate Market Seeing Fewer Sales, More Listings

The downward trend for home sales in Central Alberta continues.

439 units were sold locally last month according to the Central Alberta Realtors Association, a drop of more than 13 per cent from May 2015.

Province-wide home sales in May were down more than nine per cent from the year previous.

Year-to-date numbers show home sales in the area are more than 15 per cent behind January through May last year.

The Association says there were over 3,300 active listings in its system at the end of May. That's a sharp 17.2 per cent increase over the same month last year.

The dollar value of homes sold in Central Alberta last month was $142.1-million, down 15 per cent from May 2015.
