Former PC leadership candidate Jansen crosses floor to NDP

EDMONTON - A one-time candidate for the Alberta Progressive Conservative leadership has crossed the floor to the governing NDP.

Sandra Jansen, a Calgary member of the legislature, quit the Tory race last week over personal and online attacks she said had become intolerable.

Alberta ministers booed as they discuss climate-change plan with rural leaders

EDMONTON - The Alberta government got a bit of a rough ride at a meeting with rural politicians in Edmonton.

Deputy premier Sarah Hoffman was booed as she defended the NDP's climate-change plan, which includes a carbon tax and a phase-out of coal-fired electricity.

Alberta’s police watchdog has cleared an RCMP officer of any wrong doing after they kicked a man at least twice while trying to control him during a traffic stop near Blackfalds, despite the fact the man ended up in hospital with a punctured lung and broken rib.
